Scale Social helps restaurant operators turn real customers into their most powerful marketing asset.
Instead of relying on influencers or AI generated content, the platform captures authentic, hyper local videos from actual guests and turns them into marketing that feels familiar, trusted, and real. For operators struggling to create content while running busy businesses, it removes friction and puts storytelling where it belongs, in the hands of the people already having the experience.
That philosophy did not come from a marketing playbook. It came from a childhood spent inside a family restaurant.
The Value Of Hard Work
Runbin Dong started working well before most people.
Long before college, before corporate tech, before Scale Social, Runbin grew up around his parents’ Chinese restaurant, doing whatever the business needed at the time. Much of his childhood unfolded inside the restaurant, where hospitality was learned through observation and experience rather than instruction. It was not a career choice. It was simply the environment he was raised in.
When his family immigrated to the United States, the restaurant became both livelihood and classroom. For several years, it was the center of everything. It was also exhausting. Runbin’s parents made one thing clear early on. Do not do this for a living.
So he followed the safe plan. Duke. Biomedical engineering. Corporate roles at IBM and Moderna. On paper, nothing about his path pointed back to hospitality. But hospitality has a way of pulling people back.
The Great Dumpling Story
Years later, after Runbin and his wife returned to the US, his mother was retired and struggling. Then she started making dumplings again. First for family. Then for neighbors. When they decided to sell them, something changed. The spark came back to her.
They built the dumpling business the only way they knew how. By hand. Nearly 200 miles of deliveries every weekend across the Raleigh Durham area. No delivery fees. No shortcuts. People told them it was crazy. Runbin believed something else. Do the right thing first. Deliver a great experience. Everything else comes later.
When his son was born, his mother chose a new role. She wanted to be a grandmother. They sold the business, but the experience stayed with him.
What stuck was not margins or logistics. It was how hard it was for a small operator to build a digital presence. Customers constantly sent photos and videos. Cooking attempts. Selfies. Messages. But when asked to post publicly, most declined. Not because they did not care. Because it felt like work.
That insight became Scale Social. Runbin’s first version was wrong. An AI driven marketing tool that looked good but felt inauthentic. Small businesses are built on trust, not automation.
What Scale Social Can Do
So he started again. Scale Social helps businesses collect real content from real customers without asking them to become influencers. QR codes sit where guests already are. Customers scan. Upload a short video. Three to five seconds is enough.
That content becomes localized marketing, shown only where it matters. Faces over food. People over products. Neighbors over celebrities.
One early customer saw the result immediately. Someone walked in because they recognized their cousin in a video. That moment mattered more than any dashboard. As Scale Social expanded into multi location and franchise brands, the same challenge appeared everywhere. Operators wanted proof that marketing worked locally. Brands needed authentic content at scale.
A Human Company
Scale Social created a bridge. Local stories feed a shared library. Everyone sees the same reality. Runbin is clear about what kind of company he is building. Not an AI company. Not a SaaS company.
A human company that uses technology to amplify real experiences. The same belief that once fueled weekend dumpling deliveries still drives Scale Social today. Hospitality first. Technology second.
Different tools. Same values.
