The Correct Way to Build a Brand in 2025 w/ Dennis Postema

In This Episode

Interview Takeaways

  • Visibility Beats Perfection: Dennis Postema built Motivation and Success TV to help creators get seen. “If you’re the best-kept secret, it doesn’t matter,” he says. Distribution and exposure are the real keys to growth.
  • Monetize Early and Smart: Forget waiting years for sponsors. Postema helps hosts turn interviews and partnerships into revenue within 30 to 60 days, teaching creators to see every guest as an opportunity.
  • Your Brand Is the Business: From Steve Jobs to Ryan Reynolds, Postema says the secret to long-term success is personal branding. “You can do anything when you have a personal brand.”

When Dennis Postema started publishing books, he ran into a familiar problem: no one knew who he was. He had the product, the message, and the motivation, but not the audience.

That’s when he realized something crucial. “If you’re the best-kept secret, it doesn’t matter,” Postema says. “You have to be known.”Today, he’s the founder of Motivation and Success TV, a network that helps podcasters and entrepreneurs turn their content into fully distributed television shows. With over 50 active hosts and new talent joining weekly, Postema has built a system that bridges the gap between passion projects and professional media platforms like Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Prime Video.

Distribution

The goal? Helping creators become celebrities in their niche.

“Distribution is everything,” he tells Shawn Walchef, host of Digital Hospitality. “You can have the best product or service in the world, but if no one sees it, it doesn’t matter.”

It’s a sentiment Walchef knows well. For five years, he podcasted without making a dollar, slowly building the foundation that would become Cali BBQ Media. When he finally partnered with Entrepreneur Magazine for distribution, things changed. “That’s when it started to click,” Walchef says.

Postema’s network offers a shortcut for creators who want to skip the waiting game. His team provides onboarding, analytics, and monetization tools that help hosts start earning within 30 to 60 days, often by turning guests into partners or sponsors. “We want people monetizing right away,” he says. “You don’t have to wait years for brand deals.”

Personal Branding Is The Secret

Beyond business, Postema’s philosophy centers on personal branding. “The secret to the game is a personal brand,” he says. “You can do anything when you have a personal brand.” From Steve Jobs to Richard Branson, he points out that audiences often know the person before they know the company.

It’s why he encourages creators to show up on all platforms, not just podcasts, but Instagram, YouTube, and everywhere their audience spends time. “Eighty percent of all internet usage is video,” Postema reminds. “You have to do video.”

For Walchef, that advice hits home. “If restaurant owners can’t make it to a trade show,” he says, “they’re probably on their phones. You need to show up there.”

Tell Me A Story

The two agree that modern media isn’t about selling; it’s about storytelling. “Tell me a story,” Walchef says. “Let me learn a lesson from it.”

Postema’s story is one of persistence. From being self-funded to building a global media network, he’s proof that showing up works. “It takes a strong person to keep going,” he says. “But if you keep showing up, amazing things happen.”

As Walchef puts it, “You have to have the courage to look stupid and sound stupid. Eventually, someone else will start dancing with you.”
