In This Episode

Interview Takeaways

  • Don’t Be Scared To Post  – Push yourself and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. That’s Shawn’s powerful message to Omar Zebi about the importance of posting consistently and embracing the challenge, shared in this lighthearted yet meaningful moment.
  • Making The Switch to Shipday – Recognizing that things can be easier is a valuable skill, and with Shipday, it becomes possible. Letting go of outdated methods and embracing new options is key. Over time, that realization clicked for Omar.
  • Self-Delivery Matters – The world of food delivery is constantly evolving, making it crucial for businesses to optimize their internal delivery processes. This is where Shipday steps in to help. Omar recognizes this and understands the value Shipday brings to the table.

Omar Zebi, Co-Founder of A-Team Delivery & Logistics, has built a thriving business that’s reshaping how restaurants handle deliveries. Based in Hoboken, New Jersey, A-Team Delivery began its journey in 2017 with Omar and his business partner, Amir, after the unexpected closure of a delivery company they managed. Determined to support their network of drivers and restaurant clients, Omar and Amir launched A-Team Delivery, focusing on providing reliable, cost-effective delivery solutions for restaurants.

Under Omar’s leadership, A-Team Delivery has expanded its operations to include Los Angeles, Manhattan, and Jersey City, managing nearly 24,000 deliveries a month with a fleet of over 90 drivers. The business serves a wide range of clients, from small independent eateries to larger restaurant groups, offering delivery services for platforms like DoorDash.

Working Through Challenges

While Omar and his team have a clear mission to streamline delivery logistics for restaurants, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. In the early days, everything from dispatching orders to managing driver payments was done manually. “We used to go through emails, take screenshots, and send them to drivers,” Omar recalls. “At night, I’d input everything into Google Sheets. It was exhausting and not scalable.”

Enter Shipday, a digital logistics platform that changed the game for A-Team Delivery. Introduced to the platform by Moin Islam, CEO and founder of Shipday, Omar initially hesitated to adopt the technology. “There was fear,” Omar explains. “We’d put so much effort into growing the business manually that trusting a technology solution felt risky.” However, with Moin’s encouragement and the promise of scalability, Omar took the leap in 2019. The result? A staggering 300-400% increase in order volume and significantly improved operational efficiency.

“Shipday tracks everything,” Omar shares. “Drivers can see their earnings daily, weekly, and monthly, and customers can leave reviews about their delivery experience. This transparency has improved accountability and helped us retain high-performing drivers.”

Key Partnerships

The partnership with Shipday has also allowed A-Team Delivery to seamlessly integrate Uber orders and scale its operations across multiple cities. “Before Shipday, we were capped,” Omar says. “Now, we’re able to serve more restaurants, manage a larger driver network, and maintain the quality of our service.”

One of A-Team Delivery’s key differentiators is its commitment to building personal relationships with its restaurant clients. “Every restaurant owner has my direct number,” Omar notes. “If there’s an issue, we fix it immediately. That level of trust is why restaurants choose us over other options.”

This trust extends to the drivers, many of whom have been with A-Team Delivery for years. Omar emphasizes the importance of creating a positive driver experience. “Our drivers love the Shipday app because it simplifies everything. They can track their performance, earnings, and customer feedback all in one place.”

Looking ahead, Omar sees immense potential for growth. By leveraging self-delivery models, restaurants can reduce commissions paid to third-party platforms while retaining valuable customer data. “We’re passionate about helping restaurants save money and improve their operations,” Omar explains. “Self-delivery gives them control over their brand and customer experience.”

Jersey Roots Now World Wide

Moin Islam echoes Omar’s sentiment, highlighting the global impact of local delivery solutions. “What Omar is doing in Hoboken is being replicated worldwide,” Moin says. “From Latin America to Asia, businesses are adopting similar models to centralize delivery and improve service quality. ”For restaurant owners considering self-delivery, Omar offers simple advice: “Do your research and take the leap. The savings and operational control are worth it. And most importantly, partner with a team you can trust.” Thanks to Omar’s vision and the support of innovative tools like Shipday, A-Team Delivery has become a trusted partner for restaurants seeking efficient, reliable delivery solutions. As the business continues to grow, one thing remains clear: A-Team Delivery is not just a logistics company; it’s a team committed to elevating the restaurant industry.
