Walchef shares his recent experience at Toast’s headquarters, emphasizing the impact of building connections and community.
Meltzer emphasized the significance of starting with gratitude to build a robust personal or professional brand. He recommended writing “thank you” on your mirror to remind yourself daily to appreciate what you have and to give back.
Meltzer explained, “Most people don’t understand, where they should have their attention, where they should be writing on their mirror, not only should they put thank you, so when they brush their teeth every morning, that they remember the gratitude, the ability to find the light, the love, and lessons to what other people aren’t aware of, of what they’re given for all that they have given. But even more importantly, the next thing down should be community.”
By placing gratitude first and then focusing on community, individuals can enhance their brand and connections.
Meltzer also shared his approach to creating supportive communities using open-ended questions. He believes that a thriving community is built by providing people with more of what they like and removing what they don’t. Meltzer offered a practical template for this purpose that helps in fostering connections and mutual support.
“I utilize an open ended template, an open minded open ended question template in order to facilitate growing a community of people that want to help each other and know people that can help each other. ” explains Meltzer.
In the coaching call, Meltzer also stressed the importance of immediate action, noting that time, emotion, and value shift rapidly. He cautioned against delaying decisions, instead he emphasized that focusing on the present and taking action now is crucial to avoid missed opportunities and resistances that arise from delaying.
“The minute you come to an implied, written, an oral agreement in consideration of some sort… time, emotion and value changes immediately.” says Meltzer.
